Rema Breaks 41 Year Old Billboard Record With ‘Raves And Roses’

by Our Reporter

Rema’s music is one of the greatest Nigerian musical exports of the past few years.

Rema, a Nigerian afrobeat sensation has broken a forty-one-year-long record on the US Billboard Albums chart with his globally successful album, ‘Rave and Roses’.

Rema’s debut album, ‘Rave and Roses’ has spent a whopping 31 weeks on the US Billboard Albums Chart. The previous record for this incredible feat was punched by afro-juju legend, King Sunny Ade. King Sunny Ade’s 1982 album, ‘Juju Music’ held its spot on the US Billboard chart for 29 weeks.

Unfortunately, no other Nigerian artiste would approach the feat of even charting on the Billboard music charts for many years after King Sunny Ade held the record.

However, in 2017, Nigerian artists began to once again show up on the charts with Wizkid’s third album ‘Sounds From the Other Side’ which debuted at #107 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

Since 2017, other Nigerian artists have ranked on the US Billboard charts including Davido, Firebox DML, Burna Boy, Okay and Asake.

Rema’s appearance on the music scene showed off a side of acrobats that audiences from all over the globe couldn’t get enough of. The rise of afro beats globally can be seen in how Rema’s debut album has been breaking ceilings and records.

Rema’s deluxe release of ‘Raves and Roses’ shows us that the young artist is full of surprises, so we can’t wait to see what he’ll do next.
