The death toll in the collapsed three-story building in Lagos has risen to 10, an official said.
Margaret Adeseye, director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, through the agency twitter handle on Monday it said responders are already wrapping up their operations.
A three-story building collapsed at 24, Ibadan Street, off Herbert Macaulay Way, Ebute-Metta on Sunday night.
The incident occurred when residents had gone to bed, according to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
Ms Adeseye said 10 bodies have been recovered: six men and four women.
“24 (twenty-four) were rescued with varying degrees of injuries and all in stable condition, including 2 (two) who are responding to treatment,” he added.
The director of the fire service said that first responders are about to reach ground zero of search and rescue operations.
“All first and main responders are still collaborating to clean up the scene of the incident,” he said.
Hours after the event was reported, the president, Muhammadu Buhari he sympathized with the families of those who died, were injured and were affected in the collapse of the building.
