Odion Jude Ighalo is delighted to have ended the Saudi Arabia Professional League season as the top scorer with 24 for Al Hilal, who emerged as champions.
The 33-year-old bagged the award after scoring four goals more than Al Ittihad’s Romarinho and Talisca of Al Nassr, who emerged second and third, respectively.
A day after celebrating their title win in a statement on social media, the Nigeria striker posted another one in which he expressed his gratitude to God for standing by him for the last 17 years of foreign exploits.
“He promised to announce me in foreign lands, 17 years after. He’s still doing it. He’s God. He hasn’t failed me yet, “stated the vastly travelled player whose goals helped his club finish with 67 points and a massive +35 goal difference, just two points above Al Ittihad in second place.
Ighalo began his Saudi Professional Football League career on February 4, 2021, when he joined Al Shabab on a two-and-a-half-year contract. He left them for Al Hilal early this year after his former club refused to release him for an international assignment with the Nigeria Super Eagles.
