The Moroccan national team wrote its name in the sand of time at the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
The Atlas Lions became the first African team in the competition’s history to reach the World Cup’s semi-finals. Morocco achieved this feat by defeating a Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portuguese team 1-0 on Saturday, December 10th, 2022.
This is not the first time Morocco sets records at the FIFA World Cup. They were the first African team to get a point in the history of the competition achieving this at the 1970 World Cup hosted in Mexico.
They were also the first African nation to reach the knock-out stage of the World Cup which was also hosted in Mexico. The African continent will also hopes Morocco will be the first African team to reach the final of the FIFA World Cup.
