Nollywood has been thrown into mourning following the death of 33-year-old actress Gbemi Anjola. The fast-rising actress died on Friday, March 24, 2023, after a prolonged battle with ovarian cancer. It was gathered that Gbemi was diagnosed with the ailment in 2021. As a result, she travelled to Dubai, UAE, for chemotherapy, which lasted approximately 6 months.
She returned to Nigeria cancer-free after receiving medical treatment in Dubai, but on Friday, March 25, 2023, Gbemi complained of memory loss and a headache and was rushed to the hospital.
Sadly, she was pronounced dead by doctors on duty.
The news of her tragic demise was shared by colleagues Itele and Zainab Balogun, who mourned her on their Instagram pages.
Other Nollywood stars, including Nkechi Blessing, Kunle Afod, and Biodun Okeowo, have expressed their condolences in the comment section.
