The incoming administration of the President-elect, Bola Tinubu has been given advise.
Tinubu was advised on how to appoint the next Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
Deji Adeyanju, a socio-political activist, said Tinubu’s incoming administration should appoint a renowned economist as the next CBN governor.
Adeyanju said the next CBN governor should have experience of working with financial institutes such as the International Monetary Fund, IMF, and World Bank.
In a tweet, Adeyanju urged Tinubu’s administration to stop appointing bankers as CBN governors.
According to Adeyanju: “FG must stop appointing bankers as CBN Gov. They know nothing about the economy.
“These are just mere marketers. An economist of repute with an experience of working with world financial institutions and organs like IMF, World Bank, etc, should be the next CBN Gov.”
Emefiele was appointed on June 4, 2014, and his second tenure is expected to end in 2024.
During the electioneering period, CBN had brought up a monetary policy that affected Nigerians and almost scuttled Tinubu’s victory.
