The Editor of Vanguard newspaper, Mr. Eze Anaba, has been elected the president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE.
The election was conducted as part of activities at the NGE biennial convention held in Owerri, the capital of Imo State on Friday.
In the election, Anaba defeated his opponent, Mr. Bolaji Adebiyi of Western Post.
While Anaba recorded 250 votes, Bolaji recorded 81 votes.
The chairman of the election committee, Mrs. Maimuna Garba, announced the outcome of the election.
Dr. Iyobosa Uwugiaren was re-elected as the General Secretary; Sheddy Ozeone, Vice President (East); Charles Kalu, Social/Publicity Secretary, and Steve Nwosu.
Members of the standing committees were also elected.
An excited Anaba, speaking after the result of the election was announced promised to uphold the constitution of the Nigerian Guild of Editors.
Said he: “I will do everything to achieve our guild’s vision and mission for the socio-economic and political development of our Guild and country, Nigeria.”
He thanked the members for the confidence reposed him, promising that he would not disappoint them.

Mr Anaba holds a Master’s degree in Communication from Leicester University, UK.
At various times, he was the Deputy Editor, Saturday Editor, Senior Deputy News Editor, and the Law and Human Rights Editor.
He brings to the table a robust media management experience and huge contacts in the public and private sectors.
