MLS side Inter Miami has confirmed the signing of Argentina’s captain, Lionel Messi on a long-term deal.
The former Barcelona and Paris Saint Germain player, signed a two-and-a-half season, with an option to extend for a further year in the 2026 season. Lionel Messi said he is looking forward to the new phase in his career.
“I’m very excited to start this next step in my career with Inter Miami and in the United States. This is a fantastic opportunity and together we will continue to build this beautiful project. The idea is to work together to achieve the objectives we set, and I’m very eager to start helping here in my new home.”
Inter Miami announced the arrival of Messi in a video which was posted on its official Twitter account on Saturday, July 15, 2023. The midfielder was seen in the video wearing the number 10 jersey after the deal was finally ratified by MLS.
Messi will be officially unveiled for the first time to the supporters of the club at DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Sunday, July 16, 2023.
The club had earlier confirmed that he would be available for selection against LIGA MX side Cruz Azul in the opening match of the Lethe agues Cup on July 21, 2023.
