The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has announced the host nation for the most lucrative competition in the continent of Africa.
The body confirmed that Morocco will host the next edition of the Africa Cup of Nations after Cote d’Ivoire host the 2023 edition. However, it was confirmed that the 2027 edition will be hosted in East Africa by three nations ( Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania).
That will be the second time Morocco hosts Afcon after 1988, and the first time the Afcon is hosted in East Africa since 1976 (Ethiopia).
Morocco was initially scheduled to host the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, but was later ruled out after the fear of Ebola outbreak.
Morocco participated in the AFCON much later than other North African states. However, once Morocco made their debut in 1972, they emerged and became one of the best teams in the tournament, becoming the second North African side to win the AFCON at 1976.
Football fans around the continent are of the opinion that Morocco will host one of the best in the history of the competition because of the facilities that the North African country is enriched with.
