The news that Newcastle United supporters and the Magpies midfielder, Sandro Tonali have been scared of has finally come upon them.
The Newcastle United midfielder has been banned for ten months from betting on matches in Italy while he was with AC Milan. The news was confirmed by the head of the Italian Football Federation on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
In addition to his suspension, he will have to attend programs which will help him overcome the addiction and he is also expected to give talks about his experience for the next eight months as part of his agreement with the FIGC. This ban is also expected to apply to International football.
Sandro Tonali joined Newcastle United from AC Milan during the 2023 summer transfer window for 55 million pounds. The midfielder’s last game was against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League at Saint James’ Park on Thursday, October 26, 2023.
This means that the 23-year-old will miss the rest of the 2023/24 season and the Euro 2024. He is expected to return to football in August 2024.
