Super Eagles of Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen has addressed questions on his future as well as a possible move to the Premier League for the first time in 2024 after his contract extension with Napoli.
Victor Osimhen who is currently with the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023) tournament in Ivory Coast in an exclusive interview, cleared the air about his future at Napoli whilst addressing rumors and speculations of an impending move to the Premier League.
He said, “I think 60% of the people mention the rumours about me linked with the Premier League. Premier League is one of the biggest leagues in the world. I want to finish the season with Napoli strong then come up with the decision I’ve already made. I have already made my decision on the next step to do at the end of the season. I already made up my mind. I already have my plan, I know what I want to do, the next step I want to take.”
The footballer in his interview with The Guardian UK also spoke about his relationship with Napoli and why the club remains special to him. He stated, “There were a lot of high expectations when I came to Napoli but I had a series of injuries and then Covid set in. But the people never gave up on me. A lot of them cheered me up, sending me messages, sending me flowers … They showed me a lot of love. Helping them to win the Scudetto is something I am grateful to God for, because I was able to repay the trust that they had in me … It’s an honour to play at the Maradona Stadium and hear them chant my name every time I score. I have to respect my contract. Whatever happens in the summer everybody will know. For now I am at the Afcon and I am focused on that.”
