It was breath-taking on Friday night as Paris, host City of the 2024 Olympic Games gave the entire world a spectacular show with the opening ceremony of the 33rd Olympiad.
There were lots of entertainment and razzmatazz but the most shocking was the fact that all the activities took place on the River Seine.
American singer Lady Gaga was on hand to entertain the global audience just as football legend, Zinedine Zidane, was among those involved in the opening ceremony.
Interestingly, the traditional Match Past also took place on the River with athletes of each country waving their flags and national colours in a moving boat cruise.
In between the boats transporting the athletes down the Seine, there were a variety of musical and dance acts to break up things.
People were dancing and singing along with the performance from French singer Aya Nakamura, which was part of the opening show on the river. The singer appeared in all gold.
It is important to also note that the torch bearer was masked just as there were incredible acrobatics on the streets of Paris.
The ceremony was witnessed by French President, Emmanuel Macron who was with many other world leaders. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Spain’s King Felipe VI and US First Lady Jill Biden were among the dignitaries.
