Coach of the reigning winners of the Nigeria Professional Football League, Fidelis Ilechukwu of Rangers International, was a sad man even after his team recorded an away victory over Ikorodu United in Lagos on Wednesday.

The Flying Antelopes defeated Ikorodu United 1-0 in a match decided at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan but despite bagging the three maximum league points, Ilechukwu left the stadium unhappy.

A key players in Rangers, Kareem Ogunleye, bagged a red card in the encounter and the Rangers coach was furious about it.

“The league is a marathon, Kareem is a key player in our team but he was careless to have bagged that red card at a team we need him for our next crucial game against Remo Stars.

“The coach of Remo Stars was at the stadium and I saw him smiling after the referee showed a red card to Kareem. It is so sad, I am not happy even in victory because we have a crucial match ahead. It is a difficult situation,” Ilechukwu said.

The Rangers coach added that the player that bagged the red card will be punished for his carelessness.

“I understand if the red card was a thing of sacrifice but the team but this one could have been avoided and so he will be punished for putting us in this difficult situation,” he added.
