The South West Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN after its virtual NEC meeting has announced the appointment of three zonal officers with New Telegraph’s Charles Ogundiya, of the Lagos State chapter, appointed as the Zonal Secretary.
Ogundiya, a Nigeria Premier Football League and track and field aficionado has been a member of the sports writers for over 15 years, covering several competitions within and outside the country including the Commonwealth Games, African Games, Athletics Championships, AFCON, FIFA World Cup, Olympic Games among others.
He is expected to bring his wealth of experience to relate with the elders of the association and the younger generation as SWAN continues to build solid relationships within members.
Apart from Ogundiya, other officials appointed are Femi Dairo from Ondo State chapter who is now the Zonal Treasurer and Olajide Idowu from Osun State as the Zonal Welfare Officer.
According to the release signed by the Vice President, South West Zone, Ayodeji Ogunsakin, the appointments take immediate effect.
While thanking the zone for the appointment, Ogundiya expressed his appreciation to the Lagos SWAN, starting from the chairman of the chapter, Debo Oshundun and the acting secretary, Oni Afolabi, as he promised to return Lagos and South West to its leadership position.
