With break-ins happening more often, Snaginspector the public education service of Spacecube Africa advises landlords and developers to safeguard their properties with the right passive security installations.

These systems protect without constant monitoring, they include reinforced doors, secure windows, and strong fences made of the right material grade, while explaining some key things to take into consideration.

According to a statement by Snaginspector, signed by the Relationship Manager of the company, Bridget Dawah, Burglar-proofing should be made of wrought Iron to reduce the risk of bending by intruders, possessing sufficient space for closing windows but insufficient for break-ins. These must not be made of aluminum, as it is fancifully done today which is easy to penetrate. Remember it is not a decorative element but a security element.

“Each property must have Strong Security Doors. All access doors on balconies and entrances should be bulletproofed with toughened locks that carry multiple shutters to reduce the risk of break-ins

“Another thing is fencing. Concrete and Steel elements can create solid fences with Blockwork at intervals to ensure maximum security. Fences should not be too high so that your home is easily accessible by first responders in cases of emergency.

“The use of barbed wires on fencing have been proven to be more reliable than broken bottles and electrification. Also shaping your fence in a manner that makes it hard to place ladders or climb.

“Also, tenants are instructed to avoid renting properties without proper security features. Your safety is at risk in homes with weak doors, windows, or no proper fencing.”
