Suspected internet fraudsters have allegedly shot a colleague following a disagreement over the division of ₦94 million obtained from a scam.

The disagreement among the internet fraudsters turned bloody on Sunday along Okhoro Road, Benin-City in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State when one of the fraudsters was shot by his vengeful colleagues.

According to witnesses, the victim was driving his SUV when another vehicle intercepted him. The occupants, identified as his accomplices, reportedly forced him out of his car and shot him at close range.

A source described the victim as an “Aza Man,” a term used in internet fraud circles for someone who provides bank accounts to receive illicit funds. The source explained that the disagreement began when the victim failed to distribute the agreed-upon portion of the funds, choosing instead to keep the entire amount for himself.

“The group had promised the Aza Man a specific percentage of the money, but he refused to share it and decided to keep it all,” the source revealed.

The Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, SP Moses Yamu, confirmed the shooting on Tuesday. He stated that the police had launched an investigation to apprehend those responsible for the crime.

Meanwhile, the victim shot by his fellow internet fraudsters over their disagreement is reportedly receiving treatment at a medical facility within the state.
