Chairman of Benue State Football Association, Barrister Paul Edeh said he’s humbled to be nominated for the maiden Newstap/ SWAN Five Star Sports Award describing it as a reflection of the work he has done in the development of grassroots sports in Benue State and Nigeria.
In an interview with newstap.com.ng, he noted that his nomination clearly shows that the efforts he has made in the past few years to nurture young talents, promote the game, and create opportunities at the grassroots are making a real difference; saying that the award will encourage him to do more.
“When I received the call informing me that I was among the first nominees for the most anticipated 5 Star Sports Award, I felt deeply honoured and humbled.
“Being considered for such an exceptional honour alongside other eminent Nigerians is a moment of great pride for me and my co labourers in sports development.
“There is no iota of doubt in my mind that this recognition is a true reflection of the work we have done in grassroots football development in Benue State and Nigeria at large.
” It clearly shows that the efforts we have made in the past few years to nurture young talents, promote the game, and create opportunities at the grassroots are making a real difference.
“I’m truly grateful for this recognition. It will surely encouraged me and other recipients to continue to build on what we have achieved. I look forward to receiving this award and hope to use it as motivation to do even more for grassroots football and the young talents it impacts”, he concluded.
The award which is the first of it’s kind in the country is aimed at recognizing five eminent Nigerians that have contributed meaningfully to the country’s sports development will hold on February, 27, 2025 in Lagos.
