The national team of Zimbabwe played a 2-2 draw with Benin Republic in a crunch Group C encounter decided on Thursday in Harare.
Benin, under the tutelage of former Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, raced to a 2-0 lead as the host only managed to pull one back late in the first half.
In the second stanza, Zimbabwe registered the equaliser and were unlucky not to have snatched the winner with good opportunities wasted.
The 2-2 result was a good one for the Eagles as Nigeria play Rwanda in Kigali on Friday.
Benin now has eight points from five matches and are now top in the group pending other games.
