LG Polls: Ogundimu promises ‘the best’ for people of Orile Agege

When you talk about a man of means and character, someone who has achieved so much within a short time, Dr. Oluyinka Ogundimu immediately comes to mind.

A seasoned politician and public servant, Dr. Ogundimu is no stranger to the Nigerian political space. Unlike some who seek public office for personal gain, he remains passionate about genuine service to the people.

For the chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Agege area of Lagos State, the time has come to once again answer the call of his people. His aspiration to serve as the Chairman of Orile Agege Local Council Development Area (LCDA) stems from a sincere desire to build on the achievements of the incumbent, Hon. Johnson Sunday Babatunde, after seven years of outstanding service.

Dr. Oluyinka Ogundimu is widely respected for his dedication to public service and academic excellence. He represented Agege Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly from 2011 to 2023, serving three consecutive terms with distinction.

On his motivation for seeking to serve at the local government level, Dr. Ogundimu said: “I know what my people need at the grassroots. I am ready to serve them, develop Orile Agege LCDA, and make life more comfortable for everyone. I have the requisite experience and I promise not to disappoint them when the time comes.

“Having served Agege Constituency II for three consecutive terms, I have a name to protect. I know what is at stake, and I will do my best to write my name in gold as Local Government Chairman.”

Early Life and Education
Born in Agege, Lagos State, Dr. Ogundimu began his educational journey at Ahmed Memorial Primary School and proceeded to Vetland Grammar School, Agege, where he completed his secondary education in 1984.
He earned his Ordinary National Diploma (OND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration and Management from Lagos State Polytechnic between 1990 and 1992.
Furthering his education, he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Economics in 2006 and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 2008 from Lagos State University (LASU).

In April 2023, Dr. Ogundimu and his wife, Abosede, achieved a significant academic milestone by earning Doctorate degrees in Marketing from LASU.

Political Career
Dr. Ogundimu’s political journey began in the early 1990s with the National Republican Convention (NRC) in Alimosho Local Government Area, where he served as Secretary to the Local Government Education Authority from 1993 to 1995.

After a period in business and consultancy, he returned to politics through the Alliance for Democracy (AD), which evolved into the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and later the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In 2011, he was elected to the Lagos State House of Assembly, representing Agege Constituency II, where he served until 2023.

Community Engagement
Beyond his legislative duties, Dr. Ogundimu has been deeply involved in community development. Ogundimu is the National President of Vet-Land Grammar School Old Student Association.
In 2024, he was elected President of the Anwar-Ul Islam College, Agege Old Students Association (ACAOSA) Class of ’87, underscoring his commitment to educational advancement and youth empowerment.

Personal Life
Dr. Ogundimu is married to Dr. Abosede Yinka-Ogundimu, a distinguished banking professional with over two decades of experience. She currently serves as the Group Head, Public Sector at Providus Bank and holds an MBA from Bangor University, United Kingdom.

Their shared passion for education culminated in both earning PhDs in Marketing from Lagos State University in 2023.

Dr. Ogundimu’s life and career embody a perfect blend of public service, academic excellence, and community involvement — all geared towards the development of Agege, Lagos State, and Nigeria at large.

Dr. Ogundimu remains a man of the people, living among them, connecting regularly, and understanding their needs and aspirations. He has always answered the call of his community and never shied away from responsibility.
