The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) on Wednesday officially announced a ₦5 million cash reward for any individual who can provide credible information leading to the recapture of seven fleeing inmates who escaped from the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Ilesa, Osun State.

The escape, which occurred after heavy rainfall reportedly weakened the facility’s perimeter fence, resulted in several inmates fleeing the prison in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

NCoS has urged members of the public to assist security agencies with useful intelligence, promising that any information shared will be treated with utmost confidentiality.

The authorities are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the jailbreak and have assured Nigerians that everything is being done to track and re-arrest the fugitives.
