The Nigeria National League (NNL) has announced a change in venue for two key fixtures on Match Day 3 of the ongoing NNL Super 8 Playoffs, citing concerns over pitch conditions.

The Delta State University of Science and Technology Stadium in Ozoro has been confirmed as the new venue for the Conference A clash between Barau FC and Doma United FC, as well as the Conference B fixture between Osun United and Kun Khalifa FC. Both matches are scheduled to take place on Thursday.

NNL Chairman George Aluo, who led a team to inspect the Ozoro facility, confirmed the switch, stating that the decision was taken after assessing the poor playing surface at the Jay Jay Okocha Stadium in Ogwashi-Uku.

“The Ozoro Stadium will replace the Jay Jay Okocha Stadium due to its substandard pitch condition,” Aluo said. “We want to ensure player safety and uphold the integrity of the competition.”

The Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba remains the main venue and will continue to host the other key fixtures, including Conference A’s Wikki Tourists vs Yobe Desert Stars and Conference B’s Warri Wolves vs Crown FC.

Match times for the relocated fixtures have also been adjusted, with kickoff now set for 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. respectively at the Ozoro Stadium.

As the competition nears its conclusion, the NNL leadership has emphasized its commitment to fairness and a level playing field. The final round of group games in both conferences will be played simultaneously to maintain competitive balance.

The top two teams from each conference will earn promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2025/2026 season. The winners of each conference will face off in a final match on Saturday to determine the overall NNL champion.

The NNL Super 8 continues to draw attention across the country as clubs battle for a place in Nigeria’s top-flight football.
