The Federal Government has directed the vice-chancellors of universities to re-open schools and allow students to resume lectures.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been on a seven-month strike since Monday, February 14.
The union is demanding the federal government of reneging on previous agreements on matters such as increased funding for universities and increasing lecturers’ salaries.
FG however on Monday has instructed all vice-chancellors; pro-chancellors and chairmen of governing councils of federal universities to re-open schools.
“Ensure that ASUU members immediately resume/commence lectures; Restore the daily activities and routines of the various University campuses,” the letter partly reads.
