Nigeria’s National Women Basketball team and champions of AfroBasket, D’Tigress, will arrive in the nation’s capital, Abuja, on Monday (today) to a presidential reception.
Recall that the D’Tigress on Sunday defeated Mali 78-64 to clinch the continental title for the fifth consecutive time.
According to reports from the camp of the team, the victorious D’Tigress will depart Abidjan by 10am with two chartered flights that will airlift both players and officials.
They are expected to arrive at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport with the trophy in Abuja by 12noon.
There are reports that President Bola Tinubu will host the team on arrival in Abuja.
Recall that a reception was also accorded the Super Falcons by the President last week when the team won its 10th Women Africa Cup of Nations.
Tinubu gifted each member of the Falcons $100,000, a three bedroom house, and a national honour.
