Shooting Stars of Ibadan recreated old days as they thrashed Rangers 3-1 in one of the Nigeria Premier Football League games played at the weekend with Bayelsa united also defeating Kano Pillars 4-1 in Yenegoa.

With the game poised goalless at half time, the Oluyole warriors took the lead through Ibrahim Sodiq just five minutes into the second half.

While dictacting the pace of the game, the Ibadan fans were shocked as Rangers secured the equaliser in the 70th minute through their captain, Chidiebere Nwobodo.

As always this season, Shooting Stars decided to pile up the pressure and were rewarded with the lead through Desmond Ojiefitan, who restored the home side lead in the 78th minute and the three points was secured after Mustapha Adams made it 3-1 in the 88th minute as the game ended 3-1 in favour of the Oluyole Warriors.

Kano Pillars failed to do their survival battle any good after losing 4-1 to Bayelsa United in Yenegoa while Katsina United halted Barau FC fine form at home as the game between the two sides ended goalless in Kano.

Enyimba secured the bragging right against their neighbour, Abia Warriors as the game between the two sides ended 2-1.

defending champions of the league, Remo Stars also continued their battle to escape relegation as they fought out a 1-1 away draw against El-Kanemi Warriors while Ikorodu City edged out a seven-goal thriller against Warri Wolves, winning 4-3 in Lagos.

Rivers United returned to the top of the table after defeating Kun Khalifat 4-2 while Niger Tornadoes defeated Wikki Tourists 2-0.
