Morocco became the first nation to book its place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Quarterfinals after a clinical 3-0 victory over host nation Canada in the Round of 16 on  July 4th.The Atlas Lions looked far from their best in a cautious first half, struggling to find rhythm and allowing the Canadians to stay in the contest. However, after the break, Morocco transformed into a completely different side, producing a classic Jekyll-and-Hyde performance. Midfield maestro Azzedine Ounahi took control with a brilliant second-half brace (50′, 82′), before Soufiane Rahimi added the icing on the cake deep into stoppage time (90+8′) to complete an emphatic victory. The reigning African champions showcased the quality, composure, and attacking flair that have made them one of the tournament favorites, while Canada bowed out despite a spirited campaign. Morocco now awaits the winner of France vs. Paraguay as they continue their quest for World Cup glory.
