Inter Lagos finally secured their first points of the Nigeria Premier Football League season since gaining promotion, defeating nine-time champions Enyimba 1-0 away from home in Aba.
Both sides were yet to pick a point from their opening matches of the season, but it was the newly promoted Inter Lagos who drew first blood through Ezekiel Moses, who scored in the 19th minute.
The goal proved to be the only one of the encounter as Inter Lagos held on for their first victory of the season, while Enyimba remained rooted to the bottom of the table with zero points. Inter Lagos moved up to 18th position after four matches.
While Enyimba suffered defeat to a Lagos side in Aba, the reverse was the case in Lagos, where Abia Warriors, sister club to the People’s Elephant, recorded an emphatic 2-0 victory over Sporting Lagos at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
Both goals came late in the game to hand Abia Warriors their first victory of the season after recording two draws and a defeat in their previous three matches.
Defending champions Rangers completed the trio of teams to pick maximum points away from home, defeating Kun Khalifat 4-2 in Owerri, while Nasarawa United forced Rivers United to a 1-1 draw in Lafia.
Kano Pillars ended newly promoted Doma United’s unbeaten start to the season with a 4-1 thrashing of the privately owned club. Despite the defeat, Doma United maintained their grip at the top of the table with nine points from four games.
FC Barau, who forced Ikorodu City to a goalless draw on Saturday, occupy second position on the table.
In Jos, Plateau United came from a goal down to beat Shooting Stars 3-1, while Warri Wolves defeated Kwara United 1-0.
