Manchester City have opted not to appeal the red card Rodri received during their 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
This means the Spain midfielder will miss the Premier League champions’ next three games.
Rodri was shown a straight red card at the start of the second half after he raised his hands to Morgan Gibbs White’s throat.
The referee’s decision was confirmed by VAR.
Man City could have appealed against the sending-off in an attempt to reduce Rodri’s three-match suspension.
But the Daily Mail reports that they have decided against doing so, meaning he will miss the next three games.
The first game of Rodri’s ban will be the Carabao Cup third round against Newcastle on Wednesday night. He will also miss the Premier League games against Wolves at Molineux the Saturday before and Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
