by Our Reporter

Asake’s second studio has been recognized by international entertainment news agencies as the best Nigerian album of the year 2023.

The 14 tracks album which was released on June 16, 2023, was a body of work that solidified his status as one of the biggest afrobeats exports from Nigeria.

Popular entertainment news agency Rollingstone ranked Work Of Art as the best Nigerian album of 2023 with it coming in at number two in the ranking of the best African albums of 2023 behind Amaarae’s Fountain Baby album.

There was no separate chart created for African albums as the YBNL signee alongside Amaarae, Mr Eazi, Burna Boy and Adekunle Gold made the top 100 albums of 2023 list.

Here is the ranking of the African albums on the list:

#26. Fountain Baby – Amaarae

#37. Work Of Art – Asake

#63. The Evil Genius – Mr. Eazi

#71. I Told Them… – Burna Boy

#85. Tequila Ever After – Adekunle Gold

Rollingstone was however not the only media outlet to rank Asake’s Work Of Art that highly, Jon Caramanica of The New York Times ranked the album as the best album released in 2023 as well.

Asake has continued to break boundaries and surpass expectations of many following his debut in 2022. He was also ranked as the most streamed artist in Nigeria on Spotify’s end of the year chart list.
