Super Falcons Qualify For The Olympic After 16 Years

by Our Reporter

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France after beating South Africa 1-0 on aggregate. This marks the first time in 16 years that the West African team has earned a spot at the Olympics.

Despite a strong offensive effort from South Africa, the Falcons’ defense held strong and prevented any goals from being scored. In the end, Rasheedat Ajibade’s first-half goal in the home tie was enough to secure Nigeria’s place in Paris.

The Super Falcons have been placed in Group C alongside Brazil, Japan, and Spain, while Zambia also secured their spot in the Olympics by beating Morocco 3-1 on aggregate to claim the second ticket slotted to Africa.
