Reports now indicate that Bayern Munich might be looking to re-hire Julian Nagelsmann following the confirmed departure of Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season.
Bayern Munich may have found their new head coach based on recent reports released on Monday. They have reportedly set their sights on former head coach Julian Nagelsmann, who was dismissed by Bayern just over a year ago during a previous sporting regime.
Nagelsmann is currently overseeing the German men’s national team as they prepare for EURO 2024. Nagelsmann’s firing in March of last year, with the statement “the treble is in danger,” came as a surprise to many. His replacement, Thomas Tuchel, had a difficult time impressing the board. By the end of last season, two top board members – CEO Oliver Kahn and sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidžić – had departed.
According to Sky Sports, “Bayern have made their decision – the club wants Julian Nagelsmann as new coach. Max Eberl and Christoph Freund are in concrete talks and negotiations with Nagelsmann’s agents, talks are advanced. Bayern are offering a 3 to 4 year contract. Nagelsmann has not given his final approval yet. The DFB are still hoping he would extend his contract as Germany coach until 2026. As of now, Nagelsmann has neither accepted nor rejected either offer – but the tendency is rather towards Bayern.”
